TheIDC released the results of orders in the smartphone market in the first quarter of 2019 , and Huawei is the company that has more reasons to smile. The Chinese technology is already the second biggest brand that sells smartphones. Huawei posted sales of 59.1 million smartphones in the first three months of this year, a 50.3% improvement over the same period last year (it had sold 39.3 million smartphones).
Not only does Huawei ascend to second place in this market, it threatens Samsung’s leadership. The South Korean brand sold 78.2 million smartphones by the end of March, but recorded a drop in sales over the same period (71.9 million).
Apple is no better. Sales of iPhones dropped from 52.2 million units to an estimated 36 to 43 million smartphones in the first quarter of this year (the Cupertino brand no longer includes sales of iPhones in its results).
On the other hand, sales of Xiaom and Oppo remained stable.
